Alte Mühle (Birnkammer'sche Mühle) am Leimersbach in Hattenheim. Mühlpfad / Ecke Dyckerhoffstraße

"Diese Mühle hat eine besonders interessante Historie: hier unternahm der Ingenieur Carl Brentano 1861 die ersten Versuche zur Herstellung von Portland-Zement, finanziell unterstützt von Wilhelm Gustav Dyckerhoff. Die Wasserkraft des Baches reichte allerdings nicht für die Zement-Produktion, sodass Brentano eine Dampfmaschine anschaffte und die Zementfirma dann später wegen besserer Transportmöglichkeiten nach Amöneburg verlegte."
