Description
English: Alte Honigfabrik, Klosterstraße 21 in Ibbenbüren, Kreis Steinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The sandstone building was built in 1857 for industrial purposes. Nowadays it is used as a place for art exhibitions, social projects and adult education.
Deutsch: Alte Honigfabrik, Klosterstraße 21 in Ibbenbüren, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Das massive Sandsteingebäude wurde 1857 von der Unternehmerfamilie Wolff als Dampfmühle mit Sägewerk errichtet. Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg war darin eine Kunsthonigfabrik (daher der Name) untergebracht. Später wurde es lange Jahre als Zentrallager der Edeka genutzt und später als Möbellager der Firma Hartwig. Es diente auch als Unterkunft für Asylbewerber. Heute sind darin die Ausstellungs- und Vereinsräume des Kunstvereins Ibbenbüren e.V., das Sozialkaufhaus des Sozialdienstes katholischer Frauen (SkF) sowie die Familienbildungsstätte (Fabi) Ibbenbüren untergebracht.
