Description
English: View southeast along the tracks of the Aln Valley Railway immediately to the east of Cawledge Viaduct (behind the photographer). Out of sight, a short distance round the bend, the line reached what was the railway's eastern terminus (at the time of visiting), Greenrigg Halt. The original railway closed in 1968 but has been progressively reopened by the AVR from the new-built Alnwick Lionheart station since 2012, although it cannot be extended beyond Greenrigg Halt until they obtain a Transport and Works Act Order. A public footpath (right of the fence) parallels the reopened railway for much of its length.
