Description
English: Nike in bigger group[: these terracotta figurines represent Nike and Eros: the goddess of victory and the god of love. Nike’s chariot is drawn by a team of goats. Eros and his dogs are hunting a deer and a panther. These figurines were laid on the body of the deceased and interred with them. In this context, these two Greek deities symbolise good fortune in the hereafter. One of a group of objects from a collection that in total is described as Hellenistic (a period lasting from ca. 335-30 BC). No further information about place where found etc. was provided.
Nederlands: Eros uit grote groep, deze terracotta figuurtjes stellen Nike en Eros voor: de godin van de overwinning en de god van de liefde. Nike rijdt in een wagen met bokkenspan; Eros jaagt met zijn honden op een hert en een panter. De beeldjes werden op het lichaam\m van de overledene en gingen mee het graf in. In deze context verbeelden beide Griekse godheden het geluk in het hiernamaals. Een van een groep objecten uit een verzameling die in zijn geheel wordt genoemd als Hellenistisch (een periode die duurde van c. 335 tot 30 v. Chr. Geen verdere informatie over vindplaats e.d.
