Summary
[edit]DescriptionAllard Pierson Museum Bronze Hellenistic mirror 7747.jpg |
Deutsch: Griffspiegel, Bronze, 17,6 cm hoch, 17,1 cm Durchmesser,
Chr. Amsterdam, Allard Pierson Museum, Inv. 15.001. Allard Pierson Museum Amsterdam, Mededelingenblad, Nr. 79, 2000, S. 3 Abb. 3 und Tafel VIII = hintere Umschlagseite English: I tend to think the subject matter is: Hermes (with the lion skin) and Herakles (with the winged helmet). This would be fitting, as together they were the patrons and protectors of gymnasia and palaestrae.
One of a group of objects from a collection that in total is described as Hellenistic (a period lasting from ca. 335-30 BC). No further information about place where found etc. was provided.
