The tailor having his winning shot completely guardedby his opponents draws a second to within a few feet of thetee, amidst warm congratulations and a shake of the handfrom his skip. The blacksmith comes down with a rattle onhis stone, and so clears the ice for his successor, the parishminister, who is, curiously enough, opposed by the Free Kirkbellman of Strathtaigle. The latter has to play first, and electsto guard the winning stone, which he does with a most judi-ciously played shot, his stone being by means of his partnersbrooms just taken over the hog score.
