Summary
[edit]DescriptionAll Saints church in Dickleburgh - the chancel - geograph.org.uk - 1774235.jpg |
English: All Saints church in Dickleburgh - the chancel. The 13th century tower of All Saints church > 1774225 adjoins a heavily restored nave and chancel and most of the interior dates from the 19th century, when the clerestory and most of the church windows were repaired, the box pews removed and a new east window > 1774253 installed. The Jacobean pulpit > 1774239 remained, as did the original baptismal font > 1774291 and the rood screen panels survived also. They are very unusual in that they contain many expertly executed small carvings depicting dragons, green men, angels, devils, a monk playing the pipes, sheep, a cat with kittens > 1774245 - pigs, dogs, birds, fish and a fox dragging a goose by its neck, including red specks of the goose's blood > 1774249. |
