Description
English: All Saints Church, Mattishall, Norfolk - mural monument to Rev. Thomas Bodham (1738-1796), who died June 20th, 1796, aged 58 ; and also for Ann Donne (1743-1840) his wife, who died January 3rd, 1840, aged 97. Heraldry: Quarterly of 4:
  • 1: Argent, on a cross gules five mullets or (Bodham); "Bodenham/Bodeham" per Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.95; see also Boddam, p.94: Gules, on a cross or five mullets sable;
  • 2: Or fretty sable, on a chief of the second three bezants (Chamberlayne); "Chamberlayne of Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridge", per Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.181;
  • 3: Or, three chevrons gules each charged with as many fleurs-de-lis argent ("FitzRaulf of Suffolk", Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.357). The senior family to have adopted these arms (with fleurs-de-lis or) appears to be "FitzRalph" of Nether-Whiteacre (now w:Nether Whitacre), Warwickshire, tempore King John (1199-1216), per Burke, p.357;
  • 4: Or, nine fleurs-de-lis, three, three, and three (Dallinghowe Vert, nine fleurs-de-lis, three, three, and three, or (per Farrer)) (Vert, nine fleurs-de-lis argent, three, three, and three, Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.257, "Dallinghowe of Suffolk")
