DescriptionAll Saints Bakewell.jpg | Sat high on a hill, the church dominates the town. There's been a church here since the days of Edward the Elder (look him up), indicated by the presence of a couple of Saxon crosses, but the current building is largely a nineteenth century reconstruction of a 13th/14th century building. There are still plenty of older elements around, including the tomb of Sir Thomas Wendesley, a proper knight in armour, killed fighting alongside Henry IV and the future Henry V (of Agincourt fame) at the Battle of Shrewsbury, 1403. | ||
