English: Portrait of older woman seated facing front, gray hair arranged on top of head, wearing lace blouse and dark blue jacket Alice Longfellow was painted as an adult by her cousin, Charles Sydney Hopkinson (1869-1962), a well-known portrait artist from Cambridge. In 1919, he was one of the artists selected by the National Art Commission to paint three participants of the Peace Conference at Versailles, France. His career was spent painting portraits of high profile people including: a baby portrait of E.E. Cummings, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and Calvin Coolidge.
