Description

New Orleans 1900: View of across the Mississippi from Algiers, with ferry boat.

View is looking across towards the American Quarter. The steeple of the old Presbyterian Church on Lafayette Square is seen partially hidden behind the large flag on the Ferry; behind the center of the ferry is the squared steeple of St. Patrick's Church. A ferry landing is seen to the right of the ferry. Paddlewheel steamers are seen along the riverfront.
From the view I think this is not the Canal Street Ferry at Algiers Point, but rather the old Texas & Pacific Ferry a few blocks up river in Algiers, and the landing seen across the river is the old T & P ferry landing at the foot of Terpsicore Street. -- Infrogmation (talk) 16:18, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
