| Description |
English: Down empties approaching Alfreton & South Normanton station. View southward, towards Toton Yard, Trent and the South: ex-Midland Erewash Valley main line. A measure of the concentration of freight (especially coal) traffic on this line is shown by the fact that this merely Class J empties is running on the Fast lines while another Down freight recedes northwards on the Slow lines to the right. This train is headed by another of the ubiquitous Fowler 4F 0-6-0s, No. 44229 (built 1926, withdrawn 11/64). |
