Français : Portrait d'Alfred de Vigny enfant avec un livre d'images. Miniature de forme ronde

Diamètre : 6,80 cm.

Cette miniature, qui a parfois été attribuée à Marie-Jeanne-Amélie de Vigny, fut sans doute envoyée par la mère de l'écrivain à sa tante, Sophie de Baraudin, retirée dans son manoir du Maine-Giraud en Charente. Vigny décrira en effet ainsi sa première visite des lieux en 1823 : "En même temps, elle me conduisit par la main dans chacune des grandes chambres du vieux manoir et me montra mes portraits suspendus à toutes les cheminées, à l'embrasure de toutes les fenêtres. J'étais peint à tous les âges et tantôt au pastel, tantôt à l'huile, tantôt en miniature, d'époque en époque et presque d'année en année, depuis l'âge de cinq ans jusqu'à vingt. "C'est ta mère qui m'a toujours envoyé des images de toi, me dit-elle, à mesure que tu grandissais […]"".
