Description
English: Alfred L. Palmer (11 June 1835 - ?). Union soldier in Civil War, came to Seattle in 1882, where he built several buildings both before and after the Great Fire. Among these were the York Hotel (1890) on the northwest corner of Seattle's First Avenue and Pike Street, described in source as "one of the finest business blocks in Seattle," demolished to build the Corner Market of Pike Place Market, and the A.L. Palmer Building (1910), still at 1000 First Avenue South.
