English: The town was established in the 18th century and was named after the Reverend Alexander Smith. The Dutch Reformed Church Alexandria was built in 1896.
Afrikaans: Die dorp is gestig in die 18de eeu en is vernoem na Ds Alexander Smith. Die NG Kerk Alexandria is in 1896 gebou.
