Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Full-length portrait of a man in uniform with a sword, wearing a hat. "1st Lieut. Alexander Pfeifer Co 'H' 12th Mo. Infty. Vols. Drowned in Mississippi River at Helena Arkansas Aug. 10, 1862." (written below image on album page). The name is misspelled on the album page. Missouri Soldiers' Records and Hewitt (1998) has him listed as Pfeiffer instead of Pfeifer. He served as a Sergeant in Co. A, 2nd Missouri Volunteer Infantry in 1861 on a 3 month enlistment and was presumably involved with the Camp Jackson Affair. He then enlisted as a 2nd Lt. in Co. K, 12th Missouri Volunteer Infantry and was sent to Co. H of the same regiment when he was promoted to 1st Lt.
Title: Alexander Pfeiffer, 1st Lieutenant, Company H, 12th Missouri Infantry Volunteers (Union).
