Description
English: Construite fin XVIIIe - début XIXe, elle est ouverte au commerce des grains en 1812. L'architecture circulaire, voulue par son architecte, Joseph Beerthélemy, déconcerte par son audace. La modernité embellira très vite l'édifice. Premier bâtiment doté du gaz en 1860, il s'orne en 1865 d'une coupole de verre, à l'instar de la Halle aux Blés de Paris.

Au XXe siècle, elle connaît de multiples affectations : hôpital pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, elle devient le lieu de nombreux évènements : foires, marchés, expositions… Inscrite aux monuments historiques en 1975, elle est entièrement réhabilitée et mise en lumière en 2000.

La Halle au Blé est aujourd'hui un bâtiment dédié au multimédia accueillant notamment l'Échangeur de Basse-Normandie, centre de veille au service des nouvelles technologies. Elle accueille également la Cité des métiers et le CLIC (Centre Local d'Information et de Coordination) Centre Orne.

Ouvert tous les jours de 9h à 12h et de 14h à 18h. Visite libre.
