Description

The specialty of this tunnel of the Rhaetian Railway between Bergün and Preda is that it's closed by a gate. In this way the ice buildup in the tunnel is prevented. The gate is controlled automatically, but in case of trouble there is a hand crank for opening. When a train enters the tunnel on the other side a strong draught arises (to hear in the video). The trail (only in summer, icy!) passes directly above the portal, but you can't see the gate, if you are not going down a short part from the trail. Switzerland, Dec 27, 2015.

Wie ich beobachten konnte, ist die Versuchung gross, bei wenig Schnee den geschlossenen Bahnlehrpfad von Preda nach Bergün zu begehen. Aber..., es gibt vereiste Stellen, keinen Mobilfunkempfang und die Überquerung des zugefrorenen Baches bei Sassa Giavigliana ohne Hilfsmittel ist lebensgefährlich!
