ALBERT W. FRITZ, Private, Company I, 16th Infantry, 1st Division.This big fellow looks like a Gibson man, but his buddysays he fights like the devil. He received theD. S. C. for extraordinary heroism in action south ofSoissons, July 16-23, 1918. During these five daysPrivate Fritz was twice wounded, but he was anammunition carrier and his machine-gun companyneeded ammunition, so in spite of his two woundsand in spite of the heavy shell fire to which he wasconstantly exposed, this young giant continued tocarry ammunition through the entire action.
