Description
English: NASA Photo #9802910: Onboard the Space Shuttle Columbia, STS-73 mission, in 1995, crewmember Dr. Albert Sacco Jr. loads crystals into the Zeolite Crystal Growth experiment. Sacco is director of the Center for Advanced Microgravity Materials Processing at Northeastern University in Boston. This NASA Commercial Space Center works with companies interested in using space to grow zeolite crystals. If scientists can learn more about the structures of zeolites, they may be able to improve the use of zeolites in petroleum processing and reduce the cost of fuel. This research is part of the Space Product Development Program managed at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
