Description
English: After the Civil War, Gen. Albert Pike became a staunch Democrat and a crusader against what he called "radicalism." He wrote that "the white race, and that race alone, shall govern this country. It is the only one that is fit to govern, and it is the only one that shall." This statue was erected in his honor in New Orleans in 1957, at the height of the Civil Rights movement.
