Albert J. Buhtz (1872-1955) was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He was 17 when his family moved to Seattle. He was manager of Western Cooperage Company, formerly the Fremont Barrel Company. The Western Cooperage Company was one of the first to build a plant on Lake Union. Albert was married to Ann B. Wheeler, with whom he had one son.
