the faculty and of the board of trustees of the AlbanyColles:e of Pharmacv, members of the State Board of Pharmacy,of the State Pharmaceutical Association, of the Albany DrugClub, of Temple Lodge, F. and A. M., of the Loyal Legion, the 154 CLINICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL NOTES Grand Army of the Republic, and other organizations with whichhe had been connected. Attended by the family only the remainswere conveyed to the Rural Cemetery and there interred. Success in life is variously measured. Fame, influence andwealth are thought by many to denote it, but others, and withsaner view, hold that life successful which has been devoted tothe conscientious performance of duty, to useful work honestlydone, to unselfish service to mankind. Judged by this standardthe life here briefly and imperfectly delineated was preeminentlysuccessful, and he who lives such a life can anticipate its inevitableclose with serenity because its end is peace. AN ABUSE OF MEDICAL CHARITY.CONTENTS OF THE TUMORS. Frequently there are reported in medical journals instances inwThich objects, unusual in variety, form, size or number, have CLINICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL NOTES 155 been found in various orifices or hollow organs of the body. Suchinstances usually occur in the insane. The articles which are hereillustrated and of which a list follows were found carefully hid-den away in small packages, wrapped up in cloth or bags, andtucked inside of or pinned to the patients garments. The patient, a woman about sixty years old, had chronic tuber-culosis for years and had been, at times, at the local tuberculosishospital. At the time of this incident she was a patient at thegeneral hospital and in addition to the tuberculosis above men-tioned presented the clinical picture with physical signs of chronicnephritis and myocarditis. After a stay of several weeks in thehospital the edema gradually cleared up and the patient was ableto be up and about the ward
