JPEG file comment | Built in 1907 by Robert Fulwood Ligon, Jr., the Governors Mansion was aquired as a residence for its governors in 1911 - the state of Alabama actually bought the house for $100,000 in 1950. The neoclassical structure is one of Montgomery's most elegant homes. Governor George Wallace lived in the house from 1963 through 1987. |
