Description
English: Al-Malwiya Mosque in Samarra is one of the ancient mosques of Iraq. It is the mosque built by the Abbasid Caliph Al-Mutawakkil Ali Allah bin Caliph Al-Mu’tasim Billah, between the years 234-237 AH / 848-851 AD, on a rectangular land of 27,920 square meters, with a length of 158 meters and a width of 240 meters. The vast space of more than eighty thousand worshipers, and the mosque was built with bricks and plaster, and its entire floor was spread with square bricks neatly and neatly. It sits on rectangular bases, except for the corner towers, which are semi-round, with a diameter of five meters, and the total of the mosque’s towers is 44, and the mosque has 15 doors to enter it, and the doors rise about six meters from the ground level of the mosque and are crowned by windows with pointed arches.
العربية: جامع الملوية في سامراء من مساجد العراق الأثرية القديمة، وهو المسجد الجامع الذي بناه الخليفة العباسي المتوكل على الله بن الخليفة المعتصم بالله، بين عامي 234 - 237هـ/ 848 - 851م، على أرض مستطيلة مساحتها 27920 متراً مربعاً وبطول 240 متراً وبعرض 158متراً، ويسع المصلى الواسع لأكثر من ثمانون ألف مصل، وشيد الجامع بمادة الطابوق والجص، وفرشت أرضيته كلها بطابوق مربع صف بدقة وإتقان، وجدران الجامع ضخمة ومتميزة بارتفاعها البالغ 11 متراً، وسمكها البالغ 2.[1]7 متراً، بإستثناء الأبراج، وهذه الجدران مدعمة بابراج نصف اسطوانية تجلس على قواعد مستطيلة عدا أبراج الأركان فهي شبه مستديرة، حيث يبلغ قطرها خمسة أمتار، ومجموع أبراج الجامع 44 برجاً، وللجامع 15 باباً للدخول إليه، وترتفع الأبواب حوالي ستة أمتار عن مستوى سطح الأرض للجامع وتتوجها نوافذ ذات عقود مدببة.
