Akarenga Sōko Ruins Monument in Kawasaki

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Akarenga Sōko Ruins Monument is a part of remains of an old warehouse located in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan that has restored what has been left behind from the ruins caused by magnitude 7.9 1923 Great Kantō earthquake (関東大地震, Kantō dai-jishin) and the Kawasaki Air Raid, a WWII firebombing campaign by the United States, that destroyed much of the building. This building, known as Akarenga Sōko (赤レンガ倉庫, Red Brick Warehouse), was built in 1911 as a warehouse in the sub-station of the former Japan National Railways Kawasaki Station. The modified site is now a monument and part of a landscape to the outer corridor of Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall at the west of the station. The building that still standing is tilted due to damage as a result of previous events.
