Airfield Birdman of RAF Lossiemouth

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Airfield Birdman of RAF Lossiemouth Originally a Royal Navy base known as HMS Fulmar, the airfield always had and still has to the present day a BCU or Bird Control Unit. The idea was to lessen the chances of aircraft bird-strikes at this busy flying base and when it was handed over to the RAF in 1975 to become RAF Lossiemouth, the BCU stayed in residence. Here, falconer, Chris is putting a Peregrine through its paces on the airfield using a "lure" on a piece of string. In the distance you can see the Air Traffic Control tower and some hangars.
