| Description | The L-4 Grasshopper is the military variant of the Piper J3 Cub, a very easily recognized aircraft from the distinctive yellow paint scheme with the cute little bear portrait painted on the cowl. The civilian J3 Cub was used as a primary training aircraft. The L-4 was used as an observation aircraft, supply aircraft, medical evac, and even some training. Mechanically, the L-4 was identical to the J3 Cub. |
