Agnus Dei matrix
Description
English: Seal matrix with circular face and tapering, waisted handle terminating in a lozenge-shaped suspension loop with circular perforation. 
Device is the agnus Dei (lamb of God): a genuflecting lamb, facing right, looking back over its shoulder at a triple-tailed banner bearing a saltire (St Andrew's cross).
This is a common type of matrix; legends vary, but this is probably the most frequently encountered. A plausible owner for this piece might be a priest or vicar: the banner was the rallying-point for a man's troops in battle, and normally denoted the presence of the owner himself. In the same way, the priest called his parishioners to the banner of Christ.
