Notes | This painting reproduces the upper part of a painting of a fishergirl in the Cincinnati Art Museum (D33), catalogued by Seymour Slive Frans Hals, 1970-1974, Vol. III, cat. no. D33 (as doubtfully by Frans Hals). Slive mentions this painting in the same catalog entry as the work of an anonymous emulator of Hals (D33-1). Pigment examination of the Hallwyl Museum in 1987 showed that the copy could have been made in the 19th century. The copy in turn, as shown by Stuckenbrock, is closely related to another 19th century copy in the Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Cologne. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
