Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Afon Ogwr / Ogwr River The tidal section of the Afon Ogwr / Ogmore River rushes over limestone outcrops into the Bristol Channel at Ogmore-by-Sea. There are relatively few 'wild' i.e. unchannelled, river mouths like this in England and Wales. As often happens, the channels change naturally and the course of the river here differs from that shown on the OS map. This section of the Glamorgan coast holds a great deal of fascination for the geologist and the casual visitor as outcrops of rocks of Carboniferous, Triassic and Jurassic age vie for attention - no wonder it was designated a heritage coast.
