English: U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Johanna Robbins, a dog handler with Military Police Company, I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), posts security with Cpl. Roy, a military working dog, as a part of an air interdiction mission with Afghan National Army soldiers with Military Police Tolay, 1st Brigade, 215th Corps here, Feb. 8. Afghan soldiers searched suspicious vehicles and individuals for narcotics, weapons and improvised explosive device components during this operation in the sparsely populated desert region south of Marjah district, west of the Helmand River. Military working dogs play a special role during interdiction missions, finding hidden traces of narcotics and IED making material while providing extra security for their Marine handlers. |
