Description
English: Aerial view of the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company shipyard, Newport News, Virginia (USA), on 29 October 1941. The U.S. Navy auxiliary aircraft carrier USS Long Island (AVG-1) is visible in the right center. The ship under conversion in front of Long Island is most probably USS Charger (AVG-30). The photo was taken by an aircaft of the U.S. Army Air Corps' 3rd Observation Squadron, based at Langley Field, Virginia (USA).
