Description |
English: The Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi and a destroyer (probably Nowaki) maneuvering below thin clouds while under high-level bombing attack by U.S. Army Air Forces Boeing B-17E Flying Fortress bombers, shortly after 0800 hrs, 4 June 1942. No aircraft are visible on her flight deck and her forward elevator is in the down position. Akagi launched fighters at 0808 hrs and 0832 hrs. The photo was probably shortly taken after the 0808 hrs launch. |
