English: Aerial view of parts of Papatoetoe, Otara and East Tamaki, 11 February 1959. This shot was taken looking northward towards Otahuhu and the Tamaki Estuary. The Otara Creek and Pakuranga Creek successively debouch into the estuary at right. At this date, urban development had mostly been restricted to the western side of the Southern Motorway.
