Summary

[edit]
Description

English: The photo shows Biokovo, the south-croatian coastal mountain range of the 800 km long Dinaric Alps (Dinarids). The stone beds of the Dinarids continue below the water level of the Adriatic Sea; the Dinarids are deeply karstified all over.

Well distinguishable are the cities Makarska and Brela and the “Vrulja Bay” (Croatic:vrulja, English:spring). The sea’s rising water table (ca. 120 m sins late Pleistocene) turned many springs into submarine springs.
