Summary
[edit]DescriptionAdvertisement for patent medicine "Parr's Life Pills" in New-York daily tribune 16 Aug. 1842.png |
English: This August 16th, 1842 advert for "Parr's Life Pills" promises relief from conditions as varied as "dysentery," "faintings," and "foul breath," an example of patent medicines marketed as cure-alls, and indicative of the importation of medicines from across the Atlantic that was so prevalent prior to self-sufficient production of pharmaceuticals in North America. The location mentioned (Duane St. & Broadway) still sells medicines, as a Duane Reade drugstore. Clipped from New-York daily tribune. (New-York [N.Y.]), 16 Aug. 1842.
