Description
English: BARNES Frank Henry. Pte 12121, 6th Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry Died in 15 General Hospital, Boulogne 25/2/1916 age 27. Son of Richard and Lucy Ann of Adlestrop. 1891 -1911 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Adlestrop. His mother was granted a war gratuity 12 April 1916 revised 20 May 1919.

At rest in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France.VIII.D.62

BOND Colton Edward. Pte 11845, 2nd Oxon and Bucks Light Infantry. He resided with his parents and siblings in Adlestrop. 1911 aged 17 his occupation was a waggoner. (Working with heavy horses on a farm). Killed in action 25/9/1915 age 22. Son of Charles and Sarah Jane Bond of Adlestrop. His mother was granted a war gratuity 3 January 1917, his brother Walter on the 8 March 1917 fell 24/1917 in France. Another brother Thomas W on the 4 April 1918. His mother’s was revised 18 December 1919. Commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France

BOND Walter Harold. Air Mechanic 1st Class 7653, 6th Sqdn, Royal Flying Corps. Son of Charles and Sarah Jane of Adlestrop and brother of Colton who also fell. Died in No 8 Stationary Hospital, France 2/4/1917 age 22. On the 6 July 1917 a combined war gratuity was granted to his mother, sisters Mrs Mary M Greening, Annie Maycock, brothers, Charles H and Alfred V. 8 August 1917 his brother Percy L was granted a war gratuity. 4 April 1918 his brother, Thomas W was granted a war gratuity. His mother’s gratuity was revised 24 November 1919. At rest in Wimereux Communal Cemetery, France. II.F.12A

BULL Francis Jesse. Pte 12124, 6th Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. Born 1893 at Neithrop, Oxfordshire to Henry and Ada Bull. 1901-1911 residing with his parents and siblings at Adlestrop. His mother was granted a war gratuity 17 March 1919, revised 30 October 1919 Died 7/10/1916. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France

GARDNER Charles Henry Pte 16190, 2nd Coldstream Guards. Born 1896 at Chastleton, Oxfordshire to Henry and Emily of Adlestrop Railway Station. Killed in action in France 7/4/1918 age 21. His mother was granted a war gratuity 20 September 1918, revised 1 December 1919. At rest at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, France. VIII.Q.24

SERMAN Arthur Albert William. Pte 203340. 1/4th Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. formerly 7591 same regiment Born 1888 to Arthur Frederick and Mary Serman, nee Mort. 1901 -1911 residing with his parents and siblings at Adlestrop. 1911 his occupation was groom. At the time of his death his parents were residing at Spring Villa, Oddington, native of Adlestrop. Killed in action 16/8/1917 age 29. His father was granted a war gratuity 29 November 1917, revised 11 November 1919 At rest in New Irish Farm Cemetery, Belgium. XIV.B.9

TURNER Frederick James. Pte 51014, 9th Cheshire Regt. Born 1886 to Reuben Sedgley Turner and Caroline Ann, nee Reed of Adlestrop and brother of Maurice who also fell. 1911 Frederick was a washhouse (Laundrey) porter aged 25 Husband of Charlotte Annie Sedgley-Turner of 6 Camberwell Terrace, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Enlisted aged 31 years and 2 months 16 February 1917. Embarked for France from Southampton 11 May 1917, disembarked at Rouen the next day. and posted to the 14 Battalion, transferred to the 9th 28 May 1917. Killed in action 19/7/1917 age 31. His widow was granted a war gratuity 17 November 1917 revised 13 October 1919. At rest in Oosttaverne Wood Cemetery, Belgium I.D.4 He served at Frederick James SEDGLEY-TURNER

TURNER Maurice Edward. Driver 199235, 5th Reserve Battery, Royal Field Artillery. Born 1899 to Reuben Sedgley Turner and Caroline Ann, nee Reed of Adlestrop. Died at 2nd Eastern General Hospital, Brighton, Sussex 20 February 1917 age 18. His father was granted a war gratuity 10 April 1917, revised 13 November 1917. At rest in St Mary Magdalene Churchyard, Adlestrop.
