Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Adelphoderia sp.

Original description on Flickr:

Well, this was the other Adelphoderia species I found. It was deep under rotten wood, buried in the ground so obviously adapted for darker conditions and probably caves too, though I never had the chance to properly look in any in Tasmania sadly.
This one was photographed under Eucalypts, while dusty logging trucks rolled by, in an almost un-penetrable part of the bush near Airwalk Tahune, about 24km from Geeveston in Southern Tasmania. I was surrounded by cutting grass, a rush-type plant that grows through a lot of bush in Tasmania. It cuts fingers and exposed skin very easily, though you can also use it as temporary shoe laces as it's incredibly tough. It was difficult to find anywhere to take photos as there was no clear ground at all. In the end I had to balance anything I found on top of a relatively flat log and hope for the best.
As I've mentioned in an earlier post, it's unlikely that this chap will ever be written up or named as there's no money for taxonomy or describing new species in Australia and NZ, certainly not at the moment, anyway. It's a shame.
