Summary

[edit]
Description

Adansonia digitata

English: So-called male (left) and female (right) baobab trees, both planted in 1955, i.e. 66 years ago, at what is now Baobab Farm Cottages near Marnitz, Limpopo. They are seen here during mid-winter, and display the typical characteristics of the "sexes", which include few fruit in the male tree, and copious fruit in the female tree. Also note the difference in shape, the "male" being leaner with a straighter stem.
