Description
English: NOB Adak, AK Catholic Chapel oblique October 1944

Established in 1942, this was the westernmost military installation in the nation for a short while, and allowed American forces to mount a successful offensive against the Japanese-held Aleutian islands of Kiska and Attu.

The remnants of NOB Adak are on the National Register #87000841, and it's also a National Historic Landmark. For more information look here: pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NHLS/Text/87000841.pdf
