Deutsch: Acylophorus ist der Name einer Gattung von Kurzflügler (Käfern) mit einer großen Anzahl von Arten. Wie alle Kurzflügler haben haben auch die Arten der Gattung Acylophorus zwei auffällige Flügeldecken (Elytren), die wie Schulterklappen wirken. Die meisten Tiere sind sehr klein, mit nur etwa 2 bis 8 Millimeter Länge. Für einen Größenvergleich achte man hier auf der Untergrund: man sieht Sandkörner von einem recht feinen Sand. Der Sand fühlte sich mit den Fingern nicht körnig an. Eine mögliche Sichtung erfolgte an einem warmen Julitag am Ostende der Insel Wangerooge, in einer Dünenlandschaft direkt an der Nordseeküste.
