Strathmore We now enter the three million acre IrrigationNamaka Block of the Canadian Pacific, extending almost to Alderson, a distance of over 140 miles. Thisis the largest individual irrigation project on the continent, andis divided into three sections. Work was completed about tenyears ago on the western section, and the greater part of theland in that area has been settled. The eastern section, extend-ing from Bassano to Alderson, is almost entirely completed, andis now being settled. From Calgary for several miles eastwardthe line traverses the Western Section, and the canals andditches are crossed at several points. Irrigated farms are seenon each side of the track. Strathmore is the headquarters ofthe western section of the Irrigation Block. It has a largeCanadian Pacific Supply Farm which supplies, from its ownproduction and by purchase from surrounding farmers, thewestern dining car system and hotels of the company with
