Title
Acorn terminal
Description
English: Copper alloy terminal. This terminal takes the form of a three dimensional acorn. It is circular in plan and sub oval in section. The acorn is moulded in one piece with its cup and the nut with a central, conical knob. The surface is heavily abraded, but does not appear decorated. The underneath of the acorn is flattened. There is a circular ‘scar’ on the bottom, presumably where the acorn was attached to the body of another object. The scar is worn, suggesting damage occurred in antiquity. The object is 21.06mm long, 11.88mm wide and weighs 9.32g. Acorns are a popular motif. This terminal could date from the Roman to Post-medieval period.
