Description
English: inactivated ACO contains a 3Fe4S cluster which is activated by a fourth iron atom. The cluster's position is fixed by bonds to sulfur atoms of cystein residues. The cluster changes from a more tetrahedral conformation to octahedral. Ref.: Robbins AH, Stout CD (May 1989). "Structure of activated aconitase: formation of the [4Fe-4S] cluster in the crystal". Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 86 (10): 3639–43. PMID 2726740. PMC: 287193.
