Summary
[edit]DescriptionAccipiter badius 1.jpg |
Accipiter badius The Shikra is a small bird of prey, a widespread resident breeder throughout south Asia, especially India. The Image below was taken at Agumbe (From the archives). I found contrasting lighting conditions - @ Agumbe the thick woods made it pretty dark, while the Image above - in a Casurina grove - had an abundance of sunlight and resulted in blown highlights! The bird thrives in similar conditions: confusing lighting condition, relying on an acute eye, it surprises the hapless prey that includes lizards, small birds & mammals, and large insects. |
