Photogr. Prof. Kohlschmidt, Gotha Acanthopanax ricinifolius (Sieb, et Zucc.) Seein. var. magnificus Zabel, im Garten der Porzellanfahrik zu Gotha. Nr. 27. Übersicht über die Arten der Gattung Acanthopanax. 23 Acanthopanax haben zwei junge Magnolien ihre Stämme auf der Suche nachdem Lichte emporgehoben, links sieht man einige Stämme des edlen japanischenWeins, die in die oberen Zweige geklettert sind (Vitis Coignetiae). Über die in China vorkommende Form vergl. H. Harms und A. Rehder inCh. Spr. Sargent, PI. Wilson. II 3 (1916) 565. Dort wird die Art für Kiangsi,West-Hupeh und West - Szechuan angegeben (etwa bis 2000 m Meereshöhe). Diechinesischen Exemplare unterscheiden sich danach etwas von den japanischen durcham Grunde abgestutzte oder sogar bisweilen breit keilförmige Blätter, kürzere undbreitere bisweilen nur spitzenförmige Blattlappen, weitere fast einen rechten Winkelbildende Blattbuchten, kleinere und gewöhnlich eingekrümmte Blattzähne, sowie beiden Exemplaren
