Summary
[edit]DescriptionAcadem truncated cube on triangular face.svg |
English: Elevation view and top view of a truncated cube. The original cube has three common edges with the regular pyramid removed from the cube. We can imagine three additional truncations of identical pyramids to obtain TKMN, that is a regular tetrahedron. The notations are the same in these two views of a regular tetrahedron in a cube. The colors and the notations are the same in this other image. S is the center of the original cube, T is its upper vertex, (TS ) is vertical. Between the endpoints of any edge of the initial cube, the difference in height is h. The top view indicates the distance between two opposite edges of the original cube. On the ground, KMN is the equilateral face of the truncated cube. The true shape of KMN is dashed in the top view, where a tiling of a regular hexagon depicts the three square faces of the solid. S is the center of two great circles of the circumscribed sphere of the solid. R is the center of the circumscribed circle of KMN.
