English: Perspective of a cube by orthographic projection onto a diagonal plane of the cube. The twelve diagonals of the square faces of the cube are the edges of two regular tetrahedra inside the cube, symmetrical to one another with respect to the center of the cube. The volume and the faces of the cube are empty, the edges of the tetrahedra are not dashed depicted. From the cube, we can imagine the truncations of four congruent regular pyramids to obtain each regular tetrahedron. The intersection of the tetrahedra is a regular octahedron, of which the vertices are the centers of the faces of the cube. As in this image or this other one, h denotes one third of the diagonal length of the cube, et 2 γ is the angle between two adjacent faces of a regular tetrahedron.

Les douze diagonales des faces carrées du cube sont les arêtes de deux tétraèdres réguliers à l’intérieur du cube, symétriques l’un de l’autre par rapport au centre du cube. Le volume et les faces du cube sont vides, les arêtes des tétraèdres ne sont pas représentées en pointillés. À partir du cube, on peut imaginer les troncatures de quatre pyramides régulières isométriques pour obtenir chaque tétraèdre régulier.
