[edit]DescriptionAcadem How to scale a given regular dodecagon by using only a straightedge.svg |
English: Given a convex regular dodecagon, we can extend its sides to construct another regular dodecagon. For example, imagine there is only one polygon in the figure: the convex dodecagon with a blue surface. From this given dodecagon, we can construct the blue segments, by extending all the sides of the initial dodecagon. These blue segments are the sides of a stellated regular dodecagon, called a stellation of the initial dodecagon. This star shares its vertices with a new convex dodecagon, the surface of which is white. By iterating the construction, we can produce an infinite number of regular dodecagons, which are alternatively convex and stellated. |
